As part of a collaboration between H&R Block’s in-house creative team and TEDxKC, we developed an event concept, brand, and dozens of visuals for their 2024 main event.

After settling on the look/feel, one of my design partners and I were given the opportunity to create the event’s main video introduction. The animation played after people took their seats and prepared for an evening of listening to speakers lecture on a variety of topics.

For the audio, we teamed up with the genius of Ben Heller from October Creative to bring the audience a beautiful audial cinematic experience. Ben composed, performed, and produced a custom soundtrack, exclusively for TEDxKC.

A little peek behind the scenes

If you’re curious about how we achieved color-separated process vintage look, we layered three duplicates of each scene and applied the ‘Shift Channels’ effect, which let us isolate the color channels on each of the layers. We could then manually offset each layer by a few pixels.
